According to the network, The Walking Dead Box Set is the No. 1 drama series in basic cable history with men 19-48. The numbers were a jump from the show's midseason premiere last month, which drew 8.1 million viewers. The second season ended with a zombie showdown at Hershel's farm. The episode featured many twists and introduced the fan favorite comic book character Michonne, who saved Andrea in the woods. The finale also revealed the possible setting for the show's third season. The second season ended with a bloodbath as a zombie herd attacked Herschel's farm, causing the remaining survivors to flee, looking for a new settlement.

 

The second season begins with Rick and his group of survivors leaving Atlanta. They decide that Fort Benning will be their next destination. Along the way, they come across a traffic jam of abandoned vehicles on I-85. The group loots several vehicles and as a large horde of walkers approach, are forced to hide under the vehicles. Sophia, chased away from the camp by two of the remaining walkers, runs off into the woods. Carl is accidentally shot during the initial search. The remaining group deals with interpersonal relationships while various searches for Sophia are performed. Otis, the man who shot Carl, leads Rick and Shane to a large, isolated farm owned by a veterinarian named Hershel Greene. The remainder of Rick’s group moves to the farm while Carl recovers.
