Criminal Minds Ends with Hit and Run

06/20/2012

Criminal Minds Season 7 DVD came to an end with the two-part episodes 23 and 24 "Hit" and "Run," and unlike in season 6, Emily Prentiss said goodbye to the team quietly.

The one thing about Criminal Minds that lags far behind everything else is the writing, a problem clearly evident in the season premiere. The story of Emily's return and Doyle's death is framed around a Senate hearing, one that is completely lifeless. The senator questions, the agent answers, the senator pokes, the agent parries. It's all straightforward and bland, and without the threat of anything bad happening.

Ten years ago, Hotch and Rossi, as part of the BAU at the time, worked on a mass murder case in Boise, Idaho, where bright and well liked but narcissistic North Valley High School student Randy Slade killed thirteen of his classmates in a lunch hour shooting and cell phone detonated bombing in the school's cafeteria. He himself was also killed. As several of the survivors return to Boise to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the massacre, a copycat killer seems to be on the loose.

It was great to see the connection between morgan and the boy which was perfectly acted the whole way through the episode. the only minor flaw to the episode was that i knew the father was the unsub, however that doesnt overshadow what was a brilliantly acted and directed episode.
